Braces, Thoughtfully Designed
Braces remain one of the most precise tools in orthodontics. At Sander Orthodontic Arts in Andover, we offer traditional metal braces and tooth-colored ceramic braces for children, teens and adults across Andover and Wichita. Dr. Kristen Sander plans each case around how your smile looks and how your bite works, so the result feels natural for years to come.
What kinds of braces do you offer?
Metal braces are strong, reliable and the classic choice for growing patients and complex bites.
Ceramic braces work the same way, with tooth-colored brackets that blend in. Many teens and adults choose them for a more discreet look.
Are braces or clear aligners better for me?
It depends on your bite, your goals and your daily routine. Braces stay on and work around the clock, which can make them simpler for patients who'd rather not manage aligner wear. Clear aligners are removable and must be worn 20 to 22 hours a day. Dr. Sander will tell you honestly which option fits your case.
Will I need anything besides braces?
Sometimes. Correcting the bite can call for elastics (rubber bands), a palate expander or another functional appliance. If you need one, we'll explain what it does and why before treatment starts.
How long will I wear braces?
We'll give you a personal estimate at your consultation. Like building a house, it's a well-informed estimate. Actual timing depends on how complex your case is, your age, and the care you take along the way, such as wearing elastics and keeping appointments.
Can I play sports or an instrument with braces?
Yes. We recommend a mouthguard for contact sports. Most band and orchestra students keep playing with a short adjustment period. Our guide to braces and band instruments covers each instrument family.
